Living A Sweet Dream: A Local Couple Sells Homemade Cheesecakes & Cookies Curbside

CHARLOTTE, NC. — Sharon and Mark Nunn say their greatest strength is adapting, whether it’s starting a business during a global pandemic or switching gears when a recipe doesn’t turn out as planned.

“We’re along for the ride,” says Mark.

Baking is a passion for Sharon Nunn.

“I would make the cookies and make the cheesecakes and take them to work and anybody on my team; if it was their birthday, I always asked what do you want for your birthday. Because it gave me an excuse to get in the kitchen and bake something else,” Sharon says.

When Sharon retired in February, she and her husband decided to take a chance and start a homemade cheesecake and cookie business. Later that month, Sharon Cheesecakes and Cookies was born.

The couple bakes in a community kitchen at Pritchard Church off South Boulevard. They sell their goods at farmers’ markets, but most of their profit comes from selling it curbside in their neighborhood at the corner of Haverhill drive and Scaleybark road.

“The most fun part about it is meeting new people. Like our neighbors and coming up with new ways to do things, I’m just having things kind of sort of fall in your lap,” Mark adds.
