Community Rallies For A Local Couple After Their Twenty Two Month Old Son Is Killed In A Driveway Accident
STANLY COUNTY, NC. — A life that was cut too short but made a huge impact. 22-month-old SJ loved animals, and was full of life, says family friend Madison Clodfelter.
“The absolute cutest chunky cheeks you would ever see. Definitely had a smile that would make any day any day absolutely 1 million times better,” Clodfelter says.
The accident happened Wednesday afternoon on Page Road in Mt. Pleasant. We’re told a dog may have opened the door to SJ’s house; he walked out, ending up behind a truck at the home next door. The highway patrol says a man doing work at the house put the truck in reverse as he left, and he realized he hit something. He thought it ran over a dog but quickly saw little SJ.
“I’m not even his mother, and I cried for 10 hours probably yesterday. I could not even put into words; I would not be able to function.”
Haley Burleson is a long-time friend of the family. She started a go fund me to cover funeral expenses. She spoke to SJs parents Thursday and wanted to share this message to the community:
“Just to make sure that people watch their surroundings whenever you leave. Check around your car, just make sure, just make sure that there’s nothing around you before you start leaving out of your driveway,” Burleson says.
