Messy Monday with Slick Roads from Rain and Freezing Rain

AM Headlines:
  • Winter Weather Advisory until 10 am for areas north of Charlotte
    • Freezing Rain will lead to ice accumulations <.10″
  • Cold rain for areas south of Charlotte

A low will track north of the Carolinas through the day today. A winter weather advisory is in place for areas north of Charlotte as rain transitions to freezing rain with dropping temps. This will create light icing with accumulations staying  <.1″. Still enough to make things slick for the morning drive, especially for bridges and overpasses. The wintry mix will change back to a cold rain by mid-morning with showers ending by midday. Highs will only reach the low 40s this afternoon. Freezing overnight with lows falling into the low 30s. Highs will rebound near average tomorrow into the mid-50s. High pressure will keep clouds at bay most of the week with temps climbing back to the low 60s by Thursday. Precip chances return late in the weekend with a series of disturbances that move through the region.
Have a great week!
