LANCASTER COUNTY, S.C. – Troopers say one person is dead following a head-on crash early Monday near Lancaster County.
South Carolina Highway Patrol responded to an accident on S.C. 97 near Cunningham Quarters Road just 15 miles south of Lancaster at approximately 10:25 a.m.
Troopers say the crash resulted in the death of one of the drivers. That driver, who has not been identified at this time, is accused of veering off the right side of the road, over correcting and then colliding with 34-year-old Richard Porter’s vehicle head-on, according to Master Trooper Garrett Miller.
Troopers say Porter was not injured during the crash. His passenger, 70-year-old Vicky Porter, suffered injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital.
No other details have been released at this time.
