Pride Parade And Festival Returns To Uptown Charlotte August 2022

CHARLOTTE N.C.— Charlotte’s largest LGBTQ celebration makes a comeback this Summer after two years of limited in-person events.

Mark your calendars! Charlotte Pride parade and festival will commence August 20-21, 2022.  Charlotte Pride’s celebrations bring more than 100,000 visitors to the city each year.

It’s been two years since Charlotte has hosted Pride Week. In 2019, Charlotte Pride contributed about $8 million dollars in economic impact. Since then, the income of city visitors decreased dramatically due to the pandemic. Major event spaces like the convention center are moving forward with more in-person experiences. This will result in more business for Charlotte’s restaurants, bars, and hotels.

The return of  Charlotte Pride not only contributes to the city’s economy, but to the community as well. Charlotte Pride festival and parade creates an opportunity for corporate partners, small businesses, and all LGBTQ nonprofits to connect with the community annually. The city’s celebration provides the LGBTQ members support and advocacy.

According to Charlotte Pride organizers, this special weekend is meant to show love and respect to all community members without the presence of discrimination. COVID-19 contributed to an immense amount of loneliness due to social distancing. Charlotte Pride aims to reconnect the city with community building and bonding.

Organizers of the festival have a lot in store for all attendees. The city will be expanding the festival zone area and plan to add a plethora of community events leading up to the extraordinary weekend itself.

Those seeking a head start interest to get involved can head over the Charlotte Pride website.
