CATS No Longer Requiring Masks On Vehicles After Florida Judge Strikes Down CDC’s Mask Mandate

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte Area Transit System announced Tuesday that mask mandates have been dropped on all of their vehicles after a Florida judge struck down the CDC’s face covering requirements.

CATS says masks are optional for customers and employees effective immediately.

The change comes after a court ruling on Monday that the Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s Order from Jan. 29, 2021 requiring masks on public transportation vehicles and at public transportation hubs is no longer in effect.

As a result of the ruling, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) will not enforce its mask-related security directives.

The CDC continues to recommend that people wear masks in indoor public transportation settings.
