Pleasant and Warm Weekend
Happy Earth Day! The beautiful stretch of weather continues this weekend. Highs will reach the low 80s beginning today with mild temps overnight. The Lyrid meteor shower will peak this tonight/Saturday. You can expect 15-20 meteors per hour. Best views coming away from any light pollution. You can read more about the Lyrid meteor shower from Kaitlin here. Pollen levels will remain elevated this weekend with the dry and warm weather. High tree pollen and moderate levels of grass pollen are starting to emerge. Some of the worst issues right now are with pine and oak. Pleasant and sunny weekend across the region. A boundary will dip into the region Saturday, but not expecting much if any moisture from it as it dissolves across the Piedmont.
Warmest temps of the season Monday, Isolated Severe Threat Tuesday
Monday will bring the warmest temps of the season so far with highs near 90. A strong cold front will slow to a snail’s pace Monday night as it nears the region. Expecting it to cross the area late Tuesday at this point. We’re lacking instability and don’t have a ton of moisture to work with, but still could see isolated to scattered storms ahead of and along the front. Severe threat looks isolated at this point with damaging wind being the biggest threat.
Breezy and Cooler Mid-Week
Breezy post front with winds out of the northwest bringing cooler temps to the region Tuesday night as lows fall into the 30s for the mountains and mid to upper 40s across the rest of the area. Highs will be a few degrees below average in the low 70s through Thursday.
