Charlotte Independence Fall To Richmond Kickers

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The unbeaten streak is over for the Charlotte Independence. The Jacks suffered their first lost in USL League One play Monday night falling to the Richmond Kickers 2-1.

Charlotte found themselves in an early hole after giving up a goal in the 6th minute, but the Jacks battled back to make in level at one 31 minutes later. On a corner kick Ayrton Paez placed a ball perfectly into the box that Shalom Dutey headed home for the equalizer.

Richmond took a 2-1 lead in the 55th minute in what ended up being the game winning goal. Charlotte FC will face the Kickers on May 11th in the 4th round of the U.S. Open Cup.

The Independence will be back at home on April 30.
