CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department responded to a fatal motor vehicle crash in the University division on Saturday, April 30.
At approximately 8:10 p.m officers arrived at the crash located at the intersection of East Mallard Creek Church Road and Alexander Glen Drive.
Upon arrival two vehicles were located, a Honda motorcycle with front-end damage and a Nissan Altima with left driver-side damage.
The driver of the Nissan, identified as 63 year-old Pete Siemsen was located on the scene of the crash with no injuries. The driver of the motorcycle was on the road suffering from life-threatening injuries.
Medics identified the motorcyclist as 22-year-old Jacob Castor. Caster was transported to Atrium Heath where later succumbed to his injuries.
According to a news release, Siemsen was stopped on Alexander Glen Drive at East Mallard Creek Church Road and attempted to make a left turn when he collided with the Castor.
Officers say the speed of the motorcycle is suspected to be a contributing factor to this crash.
