CHARLOTTE, N.C. β Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department are investigating a fatal stabbing in east Charlotte.
Around 3 p.m., officers working patrol were flagged down about an unresponsive man lying on the side of the roadway at 200 East Sugar Creek Road.
Investigators determined that the victim has been assaulted with a deadly weapon.
Officers immediately attempted to give life-saving aid while waiting for Medic to arrive.
Medic then responded to the scene and took the victim to Atrium Main with life-threatening injuries.
At 3:53 p.m., police say the victim, identified as 44-year-old Antonio Quarles, was pronounced dead from injuries received in the assault.
The investigation into this case is active and ongoing.
