A rattlesnake was spotted in the surf Tuesday afternoon at Myrtle Beach State Park.
Rattlesnakes are very capable swimmers, but we do not expected to see them while enjoying a beach day! Michelle Roberts captured these pictures Tuesday afternoon at Myrtle Beach State Park. After talking with some of you, many believed this snake to be a timber rattlesnake which according to National Geographic, the timber rattlesnake being the 3rd largest venomous snake in the U.S.. We heard from the “Snake Chaser” in Myrtle Beach and he is certain it is a canebrake rattlesnake! He is going to pick it up in the morning. He says “that is one snake you want to avoid. Not only does it have a neurotoxin venom, but also a hemotoxin.”
