Warmth, Rain Chances Build Into Christmas

Most locations will see at least 1" of rain through Wednesday morning, with locally higher amounts approaching 2".

‘Twas two nights before Christmas, and all through the house, the A/C was running… because we live in the South. Highs topped out in the mid-60s this Saturday afternoon, and they’ll reach even higher into the heart of our holiday weekend. Expect afternoon temperatures to rise near the 65° mark around the Metro and southward on Sunday. High Country highs will easily clear the 50s before more clouds arrive overnight into Christmas morning. Most locations will remain dry as Santa takes to the sky, but he may get a little soggy on his return trip.

Widespread rain reaches the WCCB Charlotte viewing area by Christmas Monday afternoon. Severe weather is decidedly off the table, but a few gusty showers may pack a rumble of thunder or two. The main threat is locally heavy rainfall totalling upwards of 2″, but most locations should remain around 1″ before the moisture clears out on Wednesday. Much colder and drier air greets us for the final few days of 2023. It’s a long shot right now, but don’t be shocked if a few snow flurries make their way into the Piedmont Thursday night.
