Warm, Wet, & Windy Weekend Ahead

Rain will total 1-3" for most communities between now and Tuesday morning.

Happy Friday! We’re heading into the weekend on a cloudy – but warm – note. Highs will top out in the 50s and 60s across our area this afternoon despite the gray skies, fueled by winds out of the southwest. A few showers are possible today, especially northwest of the Queen City, but most spots will remain dry as we close out the workweek. The overcast sticks around through the weekend, but so does the warmth. Highs 15°+ degrees above average will catapult the Metro and southward into the 70s by Saturday afternoon. Unfortunately, the deeper we move into the weekend, the higher the rain chances get. Isolated off-and-on showers throughout our Saturday will become more widespread overnight into Sunday.

Sunday doesn’t look like a complete washout, but it will get nasty at times. Severe weather is not on the table, but consistent rain throughout the morning will make travel difficult at times. Models are suggesting some drier periods later in the day, but the rain is far from over as a second system rides along the stalled boundary set up by the first. Another deluge of rainfall arrives by Monday morning and sticks around through much of the day. We’ll finally dry out and see some sunshine by Tuesday afternoon, but 1-3″ of rainfall can be expected for most communities in our area from now until then. Highs will struggle to clear the 30s and 40s on Tuesday after topping out in the 50s and 60s on Sunday and Monday. Some mountain snow is also possible as northwesterly flow sets up shop on the second day of the workweek.
