Discussion:
A low-pressure system is moving toward the coast and away from the area this morning. Expect a breezy start with a high wind warning for the mountains until 3 pm where gusts could reach 60mph. The rest of the region is under a wind advisory until noon with winds out of the NW 15-25 mph and gusts up to 40 mph possible. There is some wrap-around moisture swinging through the mountains which will lead to a quick snow accumulation for the highest elevations (less than an inch, potentially up to 2″ for areas closer to the TN border). Winds will die down through the day with skies clearing. Highs will reach the upper 50s for the Piedmont. Warmer through the rest of the week with temps reaching the low to mid-60s through Friday. Chance showers and cooler temps for the weekend with a cold front. Highs will fall back into the mid-50s with overnight lows tumbling near freezing.
