Memorial Grows For Toddler Hit, Killed In Catawba County
MAIDEN, N.C. — A memorial is growing in Catawba County after a 2-year-old boy was hit and killed by a car off Buffalo Shoals Road. The accident happened Saturday night around 7:30 p.m. According to North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the driver of a 2001 Saturn was traveling south on Buffalo Shoals Road before hitting the 2-year-old who was in the roadway. The 2-year-old was critically injured and transported by medical helicopter to Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, where he died from his injuries. The driver of the Saturn was not injured and police say no charges will be filed in this case against the driver. According to the Catawba County Sheriffs Office no other charges have been filed at this time. WCCB Charlotte’s Lauren McDonald talked with a neighbor who says this could have happened to anyone.
