Paycheck Delays At Saint Augustine’s University

RALEIGH, N.C. – Employees at Saint Augustine’s University in Raleigh are waiting for multiple late paychecks, as the school struggles to retain its accreditation.

A student said she is anxious after missing two payments for her work-study program.

St. Augustine’s interim President, Marcus Burgess, says employees haven’t been paid in nearly a month.

The HBCU is working to pay off a mountain of debt.

St. Augustine’s leaders are hoping donors can help with operations. The university has launched the Falcon Pride Initiative fund that has a fundraising goal of five million dollars to prove the university is financially stable.

At last check, more than $222,000 has been raised.

The Raleigh-Wake Alumni Chapter is encouraging one another to donate $100 for St. Augustine’s.

Burgess shared his gratitude for contributions, as St. Augustine’s works to restore a healthy financial status.
