MINT HILL, N.C. – Police charged a man in Mint Hill with statutory rape after they allegedly found him with a runaway 14-year-old juvenile.
Officers responded to a home on Pine Needle Trail near Matthews-Mint Hill Road on Saturday, March 16th in an effort to find a runaway 14-year-old female. There, officers encountered an adult male, identified as 21-year-old Zachary Davis Soto.
Police say Soto accompanied and solicited the female runaway. The two had been in contact prior to Soto picking her up, according to a news release.
All activity between Soto and the juvenile was consensual, according to police’s investigation and interviews.
Soto was arrested and charged with two counts of statutory rape of a child under 15.
