Charlotte SHOUT! Festival Returns for Third Year

Charlotte is a city chock-full of talent, and SHOUT! is an opportunity for artists to get their moment in the sun.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Take a walk through Uptown tomorrow, and you can’t miss it.

For the next two weeks, thousands of people will gather in First Ward Park to enjoy good music, good times, and good food.

Charlotte SHOUT! is back for its third year in the Queen City. Robert Krumbine is the man behind the SHOUT to tell us what it’s all about.

“Charlotte SHOUT is a celebration of art, culture, and community,” says Krumbine, “It is about bringing us all together, the diverse and inclusive people that we are, and enjoying each other.”

Charlotte is a city chock-full of talent, and SHOUT! is an opportunity for artists to get their moment in the sun.

“When you think about the hundreds that was have participating in Charlotte, we are helping them thrive. We’re helping them get to that next level.”

And the artists see this as an opportunity for the people.

“A lot of people are from the city or just moving to the city and don’t know where to find live music,” guitarist Jalen Robinson laments. Robinson performed in the opening act on the main stage Friday.

“So, this gives an opportunity for artists go actually network with the community and let them know, ‘Hey, we’re actually here to provide a service to y’all.’”

“It’s amazing to have live people, real people, still doing real music,” Jeema Bey-Mickel tells us. She drove from Salisbury, NC, to attend and support a friend who was performing on Friday.

“I think that’s what the city deserves. I think our Indy, you know, artist, they deserve to be heard on a live platform. This is their time to shine.”

Chris Perez, a Michigan resident, came to the Queen City this weekend to visit friends and decided to tag along with them to SHOUT!.

“It makes memories,” Perez exclaims, “That’s the most important thing when it comes to family. So, that’s a big deal.”

Jalia Stanley made sure we didn’t forget about her favorite part of the festival.

“The funnel cakes. Funnel cakes are delicious. Who doesn’t like funnel cakes?”

Charlotte SHOUT! will be open to the public from 10 am to 10 pm in First Ward Park through April 15th. Admission is free.
