SouthPark Looks To The Future With 2035 Vision Plan
Big changes are coming to one of the most posh areas of Charlotte. The city leaders have a new vision for SouthPark by making it a walkable community within the next decade. This vision of SouthPark’s future focuses on three ideals. Places for the community to gather, making traveling easier, and mobility, expanding on transportation. The city leaders believe that other things will be accomplished with $250 million in nearly ten years of work. It’s clear many already enjoy Charlotte’s South Park area, but some can see it getting even better. This is the beginning of the journey, not the end.
South Park Community Partners President and CEO Adam Roux unveiling the many changes coming with the SouthPark 2035 vision plan. Alongside renderings of the Future Vision plan includes nearly 65 recommendations representing a quarter of billion dollars in private and P3 projects. All 65 focus on making South Park walkable and full of people and business. Some of those projects renew commitments made in prior studies, including reimagining Symphony Park, completing the SouthPark Loop. It also introduces new ideas to unlock public space all throughout South Park to turn dead end streets into living and connections.
District six councilman, Tarek Bokhari says the quarter million dollar playbook is just the start. South Park Community Partners are pledging $1 million to jumpstart the vision.
