HILDEBRAN, N.C. – North Carolina State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal collision in Burke County that resulted in the death of a 16-year-old girl, according to a news release.
The release states that on the morning of May 4, 2024, a 2003 Dodge Ram was driving down Henry River Road and drove off the right side of the road into an embankment and struck a tree. 16-year-old Savannah Green, the driver of the truck, was critically injured and transported to a medical center in Winston Salem, where she succumbed to her injuries. Her father was a passenger and sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
NC State Highway Patrol’s initial investigation suggests excessive speeding to be the contributing factor in the collision.
