CHARLOTTE, N.C.– Mark your calendar for May 7th, 2025. That’s the deadline for anyone traveling on a domestic commercial flight in the United States, to obtain a state issued Real ID. The news is raising questions for North Carolina residents about if and why they need it. WCCB Charlotte’s Lauren McDonald sat down with the commissioner of the North Carolina DMV, to get more information on the rules and requirements needed for the new real ID.
