CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Three people were displaced from their west Charlotte home after it caught on fire overnight.
Around 1:45 a.m., firefighters responded to a residence on Effingham Road near Tuckaseegee Road.
The fire was controlled in under 10 minutes but one occupant was evaluated at the scene by EMS, according to Charlotte Fire.
No other injuries were reported, and a total of three people were displaced due to the fire. The Red Cross is assisting them at this time.
Firefighters believe the fire most likely started due to discarded smoking materials. It caused an estimated $15,000 in damages.
