Thursday Cold Front

AM Headlines:
  • Thursday Cold Front
  • Heat and Humidity Rising for the Weekend
  • UnsettledΒ through Sunday
  • Drying out and cooling down early next week
Discussion:
A cold front will bring scattered showers and storms to the region today. Highs will top out near average in the upper 80s to lower 90s under mostly cloudy skies. Expect patchy fog tonight through the early morning drive Friday. High pressure in the northeast and a decaying cold front to our south will lead to more scattered showers and storms Friday as humidity builds across the region leading into the weekend. It will be steamy Saturday and Sunday with heat indices approaching the triple digits. A stronger cold front will bring more organized showers and storms Sunday, with a few of those storms capable of producing damaging wind and heavy rain. Drying out and cooling down early next week with highs back in the upper 80s and overnight lows in the upper 60s before another ridge builds in by mid-week leading to a more hot and humid forecast for the 4th.
Tropics Update:
AL94 Eastern Caribbean/SW Gulf of Mexico
Tropical wave over west-central Caribbean producingΒ disorganized area of showers and storms. It is moving quickly to the west with a low chance of development into Central America/Mexico.
AL95 Eastern Atlantic: HIGH CHANCE OF DEVELOPMENT
Tropical wave located several hundred miles east of the Cape Verde Islands. It is also producing an area of disorganized showers and storms. But, with warm ocean temps, low vertical wind shear and over an area south of the SaharanΒ dust, this disturbance has a high chance of developing into a tropical depression or storm by this weekend as it moves closer to the windward islands.
