Discussion:
Expect temps to soar to near 100 today with heat index values 105+ possibleΒ across the region. A heat advisory is in effect for Union, Stanly, Anson, Richmond and Chesterfield Co from 11am until 8pm. I would not be surprised if more counties are added later this morning. Storm chances will increase this afternoon with heavy downpours possible, we will need to watch for localized flooding. An upper level disturbance to our north is allowing more instability and moisture to build, leading to increased storm chances today and tomorrow. By Wednesday, a cold front will approach the area from the west, bringing some relief from the intense heat. This front will likely stall leading to a more unsettled pattern with more clouds, showers and storms. Although, temps will drop, humidity will remain high, keeping it feeling very tropical through the weekend.
