Global Tech Outage Causes Flight Issues And Several Others
A global outage had several companies offline and the problem behind it is now known. The issue was a faulty computer update from a big cybersecurity firm. This failed update brought airports to a hault with many flights staying grounded. Charlotte Douglas Airport was a part of that list leaving many flyers wondering about the status of their travel. Several flights were delayed into the overnight hours leaving passengers frustrated. CrowdStrike CEO, George Kurtz, issued statement about the problem that occurred that would effect banks, hospitals, and media outlets among others. The United States saw near 9% of all domestic flights being cancelled by midday Friday. According to FlightAware more than 38,000 flights were delayed with over 4,000 being cancelled. Specifically at Charlotte Douglas, 187 of 936 flights were cancelled due to this global disconnection.
