  • Scattered Storms
  • Weekend Cold Front
  • Watching the Tropics
Discussion:
It will be a steamy one today with highs soaring into the mid 90s. Heat index values will reach 103+ for areas south and east of I-85. Heat advisory in effect from noon until 7pm. Organized storms from the northwest could push into the region this afternoon through the evening. We’ll be primed for storm development with high instability and plenty of moisture. Damaging wind, heavy rain will be the biggest threats for any storms that become severe. The heat will peak tomorrow with more advisories likely along withΒ more scattered strong to severe storms. The pattern will shift beginning Saturday with a cold front that will be approaching the region. This will lead to slightly cooler temps and more widespread rain and storms Saturday evening into Sunday.
Tropics Update:
The tropical wave in the Caribbean is producing disorganized storms. Not likely to see further development until the late weekend, early next week, where it could become a tropical depression near Florida. Models are shifting a little more west. This along with the slower trend will mean something for us to watch mid to late week here in the Carolinas.
