Impacts From TS Debby Begin Tuesday Locally
AM Headlines:
- Tropical Troubles
- Flooding Concerns
- Cooler Temperatures
- Drying Out This Weekend
Discussion:
Tropical Storm Debby is expected to stall due to weak steering currents. It will slowly move off the southeast coast, where it will strengthen slightly as it taps into the warmer waters of the Atlantic and reduced land interaction. This will likely lead to increased rainfall and stronger winds for the Carolina coast. It will begin to slowly move northeast and eventually inland Thursday bringing significant rain and flooding for areas along and east of I-77/I-85, as well as below average temperatures from the added cloud cover. We will begin to dry out this weekend as Debby moves north and away from the Carolinas.
Day by Day Breakdown:
Today; Light rain will begin this morning from Debby’s outer rain bands. Highs in the low 80s Gusts up to 20 mph
Wednesday: Debby will move off the coast — expecting scattered showers & highs in the mid 80s Gusts up to 25mph
Thursday: Heaviest Rain, Flooding Threat = Highest for region Gusts up to 25-30 mph
Friday: Rain will end by the evening, lingering flooding concerns
