Enjoy the cooler weather while it lasts! A dip in the jet stream and surface high pressure are giving us a break from the usual August heat. Temps will be a little warmer than yesterday with highs reaching the low 80s this afternoon. Overnight temps will drop into the 40s and 50s again this evening with some patchy mountain valley fog under clear skies and calm winds. Temps will start to climb back toward the mid 80s Friday and Saturday, but humidity will remain low. The trough will begin to weaken and shift east, allowing a subtropical ridge to slide in from the west. Although the surface high will keep rain chances low, the ridge will help to increase temps with highs back into the upper 80s by Sunday. Temps crank up next week with highs reaching the low to mid 90s and overnight lows only falling into the mid to upper 60s. Muggy air will also return by mid-week with isolated storm chances.
