Cooler, Pleasant Stretch
A cold front has moved through the region. High pressure from the north is bringing in refreshing fall-like temps to the area. Expect highs to top out about 5-10 degrees below normal (mid 70s to near 80) with lower humidity making it feel pleasant and comfortableΒ to spend time outside. Overnight lows will also be crisp tonight bottoming out in the 40s and 50s from the mountains through the Piedmont. This nice weather will stick around through mid-week.
Rain Chances Increase By Friday
Keeping an eye on a weak low pressure system that is expected to develop near the Gulf coast and move toward our region by Friday. This will likely bring some showers and a wetter pattern that will linger through Saturday. The increase in moisture also means an uptick in humidity and slightly warmer temps than what we’ll see through midweek. Highs will reach the low 80s with overnight lows in the mid 60s — still a few degrees shy of average.
Not a Total Washout for the Weekend
A cold front will sweep through the region Saturday into Sunday leading to another shot of dry and cooler air to finish up the weekend. Highs will top out in the mid 70s under sunny skies Sunday afternoon with lows tumbling back into the mid 50s to start the next work week.
Tropics Update:
The low over Texas has moved inland bringing heavy rain to the coast. Still watching two areas for a chance of development later this week, or into the weekend.
Caribbean Sea (Medium Chance)Β – A tropical wave is moving westward into the eastern Caribbean Sea producing disorganized showers and storms. Conditions are expected to improve for development later this week as the system moves into the western Caribbean/SW Gulf. A tropical depression could form over the weekend.
Eastern Tropical Atlantic (Medium Chance) – A tropical wave in the far eastern Atlantic is causing disorganized showers and storms. Conditions become slightly more favorable for development over the next few days. A tropical depression could form over the next few days as it moves slowly to the west-northwest, bringing heavy rain and gusty wind to the Cabo Verde Islands in the next day or two.
