The event runs from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. It will take place on the lower outdoor patio if weather permits (bring a lawn chair), or it will take place inside the lounge area of The Food Hall in case of unpleasant weather. The Food Hall will be open for purchases. Middle James Brewing Company will also be open.

Jazz musicians of all skill levels are welcome to participate, including area middle and high school jazz musician students and teachers, as well as college students and professors. Community jazz musicians are also invited.

The musicians play popular jazz standards, including swing, Latin, blues and ragtime at the monthly DOWNTOWN JAZZ JAM. Musicians should bring their own instruments, along with a music stand and Real Book if needed. A drum set, keyboard, amps and small PA system are provided.

“Each month we have a fun crowd and a great variety of musicians,” said one vent organizer, Tim Hartis of Rock Hill. “I hope folks who aren’t familiar with jazz will come out to this free, family-friendly event and give us a listen. Whether we’re indoors or outside, it’s always a happening atmosphere at The Power House!”

The goals of the event are to spread the love of jazz, have fun and gain experience playing music together in public, and make musical contacts. Listeners can relax to great American music and enjoy food/drink for purchase if they choose.

The Power House Food Hall is located at 378 Technology Center Way, Rock Hill, S.C. Parking is free at University Center Dekcs A (P3406) and B (P3407)
