18-Year-Old Charged For Threatening Schools In Lenoir
LENOIR, N.C. β An 18-year-old was charged with terrorism after allegedly threatening schools in Lenoir on social media, according to the City of Lenoir Police Department.
Police received information Friday morning about potential threats of violence being made against a high school in Lenoir. An investigation into the case confirmed that the threats were made on social media and were shared with students, police said.
Hibriten High School and William Lenoir Middle School were placed on lockdown until police verified the legitimacy of the threats.
Officers identified the suspect as 18-year-old Brynnem Scott Gregory in Morganton, and he was arrested.
Gregory has been charged with terrorism, making a false report concerning mass violence on educational property, disorderly conduct by disrupting students and communicating threats.
He was booked into the Burke County Jail. He received a $150,000 bond.
