The primary hazard of concern at this time is high levels of volcanic gas

HAWAII — A fiery display of lava is on again as the Kilauea volcano erupts on Hawaii’s Big Island.

Officials say the eruption was confined to a remote, closed area of Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. The USGS Hawaiian Volcano Observatory has lowered KΔ«lauea’sβ€― volcano alert level from WARNING to WATCH and its aviation color code from RED to ORANGE.

The Observatory says, ” The primary hazard of concern at this time is high levels of volcanic gas which can have far-reaching effects down-wind (generally southwest) of the summit.”
