MONROE, NC – A driver accused of hitting a man in Monroe and continuing to drive has been arrested.
Police arrested 38-year-old Lazaurus Cunningham on Tuesday, January 28, 2025.
Cunningham is charged with felony hit-and-run causing serious injury or death.
Police say he hit a man on W. Roosevelt Boulevard around 7:30 in the morning on January 22, 2025. The victim remains in critical condition.

MONROE, NC – A man is in critical condition after a driver hit him and kept going in Monroe.
A police officer found the man in the median of W. Roosevelt Boulevard around 7:30 Wednesday morning.
Paramedics took the man to a Charlotte area hospital.
There is no information about the car or the driver.
Investigators are asking anyone who may know anything about this hit-and-run to call Monroe Police at 704-282-4700.
