It’s National Frozen Yogurt Day!
CHARLOTTE, N.C.– It’s only Thursday but you can start celebrating the weekend early by treating yourself to some frozen yogurt! Thursday is National Frozen Yogurt Day, observed every year on February 6th. The icy treat started as a fad but has become a freezer section staple over the years. According to NationalDayCalendar.com, dairy company HP Hood came up with the first frozen yogurt in 1970 in the United States. The company introduced it as a soft serve dessert called frogurt. Shortly thereafter, Humphreys and Dannon came out with their versions of frozen yogurt. Though its health benefits vary compared to ice cream, fro-yo does tend to be lower in fat and calories. You can celebrate the dessert with your favorite flavor in a cup or cone!
