Walmart shoplifters sentenced to wash cars in Michigan
FLINT, MI.– Forty-eight shoplifters in Michigan, have a unique public service assignment. As part of their sentences, after getting caught stealing from Walmart, the convicted shoplifters will work at a free car wash, over four weekends this spring. The hope is that the punishment will deter future crime, without sending more people into the overcrowded county jail. Each person received a fine, equal to the dollar amount of recovered goods. They were also assigned car wash days correlated to the dollar amount of shoplifted goods.
