CHARLOTTE, NC -Billy Joel has canceled all of his upcoming concerts, including one scheduled in Charlotte, following a recent diagnosis of a medical condition know as Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH).
The condition is a brain disorder in which excess cerebrospinal fluid accumulates in the brain’s ventricles, causing thinking and reasoning problems, difficulty walking, and loss of bladder control.
A post on Joel’s Facebook page says the singer is undergoing physical therapy and has been told not to perform during the recovery period.
“Billy is thankful for the excellent care he is receiving and is fully committed to prioritizing his health. He is grateful for the support from fans during this time and looks forward to the day when he can once again take the stage,” the statement said.
Joel had 17 concerts scheduled through July, including one planned for July 3rd with Sting at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte.
Refunds are supposed to be automatically processed back to the original payment method used.
