Whataburger opens its first North Carolina restaurant in Gastonia
GASTONIA, N.C. – Whataburger opened it’s doors Thursday morning in Gastonia on East Franklin Boulevard. It’s the company’s first restaurant in North Carolina. The grand opening is part of the year-long celebration of Whataburger’s 75th anniversary.
Whataburger CEO Debbie Stroud was at the restaurant opening and tells us, “75 years ago, in 1950, Harmon Dobson, out of a little hamburger stand in Corpus Christi, Texas, wanted to build a burger that you had to hold with two hands. So that when you took a bite of it, you would say, ‘what a burger!'”
Nine more restaurants are opening in the North Carolina this year.
