No traffic guards on district campuses for new school year in Fort Mill
The Fort Mill School District will no longer have traffic guards in the new school year.
They will still have crossing guards stationed at crosswalks to help students, but they will not be directing traffic in and out of school grounds.
The district says the decision was made by the third-party company they use for crossing and traffic guards staffing. It comes after one traffic guard was killed and another was hurt during the last school year.
The district tells WCCB Charlotte they are looking for an alternative solution to handle the management of traffic flow.
