Clouds and some rain look to return

Big swings this week

The beautiful, sunny weather looks to take a break as we start the new week. A coastal low off the Carolina coast will move inland Monday night and into Tuesday. This will help to increase cloud cover, drop temperatures, and bring isolated to scattered rain chances. Monday looks mostly dry, although don’t rule out a couple showers, especially in the High Country. Temperatures look to top out in the low 80s in the Piedmont, and low 70s in the High Country. While the rain chances are isolated Monday, cloud cover will become widespread.

By Tuesday, the clouds stay, and rain chances rise slightly to scattered coverage, especially by the evening, and overnight. Tuesday will be the most fall-like day of the week with temperatures unlikely to find 80 for most of us, thanks to the clouds and northerly wind. Wednesday looks drier, and temperatures start to rise again. By the time we get towards the end of the work week, temperatures rise to the upper 80s with plentiful sunshine!

We continue to watch the tropics, as a wave is likely to develop into Gabrielle. The good news is nearly all model guidance keeps this storm well away from the United States!
