CMPD investigating deadly shooting in Southwest Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A 4-year-old child is dead following a reported car theft in Charlotte.

The shooting happened along Cigar Court around 6:15 a.m. Thursday morning

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said a person reportedly tried to steal a car in the neighborhood, and at some point during the theft, shots were fired.

Those shots entered a home and hit the the child.

Police are searching for the suspect who stole the car and fired the shots.
