NC coast sees tourism boost from ‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’

Wilmington, North Carolina and surrounding areas have been used for a number of film and television productions since the 1980s.

One of the series has recently taken the country by storm. 

The drama “The Summer I Turned Pretty” on Amazon Prime has exploded in popularity, and it was filmed in Cape Fear. The popular series has brought significant attention to the area, leading to increased numbers of visitors.

The Chamber of Commerce says productions like this give the community a boost.

The series finale was released Wednesday, but creators say a feature film is in the works.
