WARRENSVILLE, N.C. βΒ One person died in an early morning crash in Ashe County, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
Around 2:30 a.m. Saturday, a Toyota RAV4 was traveling east on NC 88 near Elliot Road. Troopers said the driver lost control, crossed the center line, went off the left side of the road, and struck a ditch.
The driver, 21-year-old Joshua Hodge, was seriously injured and was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Troopers said speed and impairment were contributing factors.
