Fantastic fall feels close out workweek
Rain chances remain low through the weekend before a more unsettled pattern picks up next week.
October started on a warm note as many communities around the Metro reached the lower 80s on Wednesday, but fantastic fall feels have arrived for the second day of the month. Lows have largely bottomed out in the 50s this Thursday morning, but will recover nicely into the mid-70s across the Piedmont and Foothills in the afternoon. Expect more of the same on Friday before warmer temperatures slowly build into the weekend. Highs will rise near 80° in the Queen City on Saturday and Sunday despite increasing cloud cover.
A more unsettled pattern greets us next week as tropical moisture surges into the Southeast. No single day ahead looks like a washout right now, but we’ll want to watch for isolated-to-scattered showers between Monday and Wednesday of next week. Medium-range models are keying in on a sharp cold front that arrives by Wednesday evening, which could lead to a few strong storms before another dry cooldown settles into the Carolinas by the end of the week.
