UPDATE: Teen recovering from gunshot wound charged in Midtown parking deck killing

A teenager who police say is recovering from a gunshot wound has been charged with murder in the Midtown Charlotte parking deck shooting of another teen.

New information released by police says officers were called to another shooting that was reported shortly after the shooting inside a Midtown Charlotte parking deck. Officers located a 17-year-old suffering from a gunshot wound. The teen suspect was taken to a local hospital for treatment, CMPD said.

Police say the teen will face the following charges once he is released from the hospital:

  • Murder
  • Robbery with a dangerous weapon
  • Felony conspiracy
  • Felony obstruction

CMPD has not released the name of the suspect at this time.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – CMPD says 16-year-old Alexander Martinez was killed in a shooting near the Target on Metropolitan Avenue in Charlotte.

Police responded to the call about shots being fired around 8:00 Wednesday evening in the parking deck on Metropolitan Avenue.

WCCB crews saw detectives with CMPD’s homicide unit searching the fourth floor of the parking deck searching for evidence and taking pictures of the scene.

Police have not released any information on a suspect or suspects. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
