Warm start to workweek, wet Wednesday ahead

Scattered heavy storms are in the forecast by midweek, but rain chances remain few and far between through Tuesday afternoon.

The good times keep rolling into October’s first full workweek after a wonderful weekend. Highs will cruise into the lower 80s across the Piedmont and Foothills this Monday afternoon as mostly sunny skies maintain their hold on the Carolinas. Expect more of the same on Tuesday before clouds build ahead of a sharp cold front approaching from the northwest. Most communities remain dry through the first two days of the workweek, but a few isolated showers and storms could find their way into the WCCB Charlotte viewing area by Tuesday evening. That said, most of the rain chances hold off until Wednesday morning at the earliest.

Scattered heavy storms return to the forecast by Wednesday afternoon as the aforementioned front sweeps into the Carolinas. While the severe threat appears to be very low right now, we’ll want to stay weather-wise as the system carves its way through the Piedmont. Regardless of what happens on Wednesday, a major cooldown will settle into the Queen City for the final two days of the workweek; highs will struggle to clear the 50s and 60s across the board on Thursday and Friday. Frost is possible in the High Country as we wake up Friday morning. The weekend ahead looks dry and a bit warmer, with highs in the lower 70s around the Metro.
