ROCK HILL, S.C. — Rock Hill Police say the person who shot a man at the Galleria Mall used his gun lawfully in self-defense following an assault.
Officers say they responded to the shooting just before 2pm and found 26-year-old Martrell Mintor, of Chester, shot in the shoulder.
Mintor was taken to a local hospital and investigators say he is in critical condition.
The shooter was located nearby and detained. Police say through their investigation it was determined the shooter was accosted by Minter verbally and physically, according to a news release.
Police say the shooter used his gun lawfully for self-defense and no charges will be filed.
Minter will be charged with assault and battery once he is released from the hospital, according to Rock Hill Police.
