Dry conditions persist through the rest of the week
Freeze alerts moving into mountains Thursday night
Fire danger will ease after 7 PM tonight as winds calm down. You may still notice a breeze Thursday afternoon, but it will lighten up by tomorrow night. The dry conditions will continue, but with less wind, the fire risk will drop a bit.
It’ll be a pleasant evening to get outside, with lows dipping into the lower 40s and a light northerly breeze. Closer to the metro area, Thursday will start off cool, then warm up nicely with highs running a few degrees above normal across the valleys and Piedmont.
A Freeze Watch is in effect for the North Carolina mountains Thursday night through Friday morning, where temperatures could fall as low as 28 degrees. The air will remain very dry during the day, with humidity around 25–30%, but light winds mean no major fire concerns.
Friday looks very similar to Thursday, lots of sunshine and comfortable highs in the upper 60s to low 70s to round out the week.
