Elevated fire danger across the Carolinas Wednesday
Winds will gust up to 20 mph in the piedmont and up to 40 mph in the mountains.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The National Weather Service has issued a Special Weather Statement due to increased fire danger for all of North Carolina and most of South Carolina until 7 p.m. Wednesday. Any fires could spread rapidly due to strong winds and low humidity.
Winds will gust up to 20 mph in the piedmont and up to 40 mph in the mountains.Dry vegetation due to ongoing drought conditions will act as fuel for any fire that gets out of control.
Outdoor burning is highly discouraged to prevent accidental wildfires.
