A New Wave of Rain Moving in, then Sunshine Returns Just in Time for Halloween
Thing clearing out late week
Another round of widespread rain is on the way for our viewing area, set to arrive by Wednesday afternoon as a storm system tracks up the East Coast. This system will bring steady showers through the day and into the evening, giving lawns and gardens a healthy soak and keeping roads damp for the evening commute. Some heavier pockets of rain are possible at times, especially to the east, though thunder is not expected to be a major concern with this round of wet weather.
By the early hours of Thursday, the bulk of the system will begin to move offshore. However, a few lingering showers could hang around through the morning commute before drier air filters in from the west. As the clouds gradually clear, sunshine will make a welcome return by midday and continue into the afternoon. That sunshine will help temperatures rebound nicely, with highs climbing into the 50s and 60s across the region.
Thursday night, though, will bring a noticeable chill. As skies clear completely, temperatures will drop sharply nearing the freezing mark in the High Country and settling close to 40° across the Piedmont and Foothills. You’ll definitely want to keep a jacket handy if you’re heading out early Friday morning.
Friday will be a picture-perfect fall day bright, dry, and crisp, with abundant sunshine lighting up the Carolinas. It’s a perfect setup for Halloween festivities. Daytime highs will hover comfortably in the 60s, but don’t let the warmth fool you once the sun sets, the chill returns quickly. For the first time since mid-April, overnight lows in the Queen City are expected to dip into the 30s, bringing a frosty touch to your Halloween night.
As we roll into the weekend expect sunny skies, cool afternoons, and chilly mornings, with a classic autumn feel from start to finish. Whether you’re trick-or-treating, heading to a fall festival, or simply enjoying the changing leaves, the weather will be comfortably brisk and beautifully seasonal.
