Get ready for the coldest morning of the season so far as we head into the weekend. Saturday morning will bring a true taste of late fall, with temperatures dropping into the 30s across the region. Many spots will experience their first freeze of the season, and even areas that stay just above freezing will likely see widespread frost.
Because of these cold conditions, the National Weather Service has issued Frost Advisories and Freeze Warnings, meaning sensitive plants and outdoor vegetation could be damaged or killed if left unprotected. It’s a good idea to cover your plants, disconnect outdoor hoses, and bring in potted plants if you can.
Once we get past the chilly start, Saturday will turn out sunny and pleasant, with afternoon highs reaching the mid-60s leading to a crisp but comfortable fall day overall. Winds will stay light, and skies will remain clear through the evening.
On Sunday, clouds will increase at times, leading to a mix of sun and clouds throughout the day. Temperatures will stay similar, with highs again in the mid-60s and a light breeze.
Our next weather change arrives late Sunday night into Monday, when a new system brings our next chance for rain. Showers look to develop overnight Sunday and may continue into early Monday, so if you have Monday morning plans or a commute, plan on some wet roads.
